Signature Heirloom portraits
Fine Art Portraits for the Little People You Never Want to Forget
There are photographs you take to fill your camera roll—and then there are photographs you make to become part of your home.
Signature Heirloom Portraits are fine art children's portraits created with the intention of being printed, framed, and passed down.
Designed for babies and children who are sitting independently through childhood, these sessions are intentionally simple: a beautiful child, carefully considered wardrobe, custom lighting set up, and a timeless white backdrop.
No elaborate sets. No distracting props.
Just your child, exactly as they are in this fleeting season of life.
A Portrait Experience Designed to Become an Heirloom
Children change so quickly.
The round cheeks. The tiny hands. The baby curls. The expressions that somehow belong only to this particular age.
My Signature Heirloom Portraits are designed to preserve those details in a way that feels less like a traditional children's photo session and more like a piece of fine art.
Each portrait is carefully created using my signature approach to lighting, composition, and editing, resulting in photographs that are soft, refined, and timeless. The finished images are made to live beyond your phone.
Think:
A framed portrait above the fireplace.
A print displayed in your child's bedroom.
A photograph gifted to a grandparent.
A portrait that your child eventually takes with them into their own home.
These are photographs meant to be held onto.
Taken to be printed
In a world where thousands of photographs can live on your phone without ever being seen again, these portraits are created with something different in mind.
Print them. Frame them. Give them away. Live with them.
The Signature Heirloom Portrait experience is designed around the idea that photographs deserve to exist outside of a screen.
Your images can become artwork in your home rather than another collection of files sitting on a hard drive.
For families who want something even more distinctive, heirloom artwork can also include silhouette prints and locket necklaces created from your child's portrait.
These small pieces can become tangible reminders of this particular version of your child—the one who existed for such a short time.

What Makes a Signature Heirloom Portrait Different?
The beauty of these portraits comes from their simplicity.
Photographs are created against a clean white backdrop with minimal to no props. Without elaborate sets competing for attention, your child's personality, expression, features, and presence become the focus.
The result is intentional and timeless.
Rather than creating a photograph of a child in a scene, we're creating a portrait of the child themselves.
A Curated Vintage Wardrobe
Your wardrobe doesn't have to be another thing you worry about.
My client closet includes a carefully curated collection of vintage and heirloom-inspired pieces for both boys and girls.
You'll find timeless details such as:
Peter Pan collars
Delicate lace
High necklines
Soft cottons
Creams and whites
Muted pastels
Vintage-inspired silhouettes
White bows
Bonnets for girls
The wardrobe is intentionally understated so that it complements the simplicity of the portraits.
The goal isn't to dress your child in a trendy costume.
It's to create photographs that could have been made decades ago—or decades from now.
For Babies, Milestones & Childhood
Signature Heirloom Portraits are best for children 6 months and older, or once they are sitting independently.
This stage gives us the ability to create beautiful portraits while capturing the unique expressions and personality that begin to emerge as your baby grows.
These sessions are beautiful for:
A milestone
Document your baby's first year or a meaningful stage of childhood.
A birthday
Celebrate another year with a portrait designed to last far beyond the birthday party.
“Just because.”
You don't need an occasion to document the child you love exactly as they are right now.
A gift for grandparents
A beautiful heirloom portrait makes an especially meaningful gift for grandparents and family members.
A childhood keepsake
Create something your child can one day look back on and eventually pass down themselves.

A Modern Portrait With an Old-World Feeling
There is something special about a portrait that doesn't depend on trends.
A white dress.
A Peter Pan collar.
A simple bow.
A child's face looking directly into the camera.
Soft, beautiful light.
A photograph without anything unnecessary.
The simplicity allows the portrait to become more than a record of what your child looked like at a particular age.
It becomes a reminder of who they were.
And years from now, when their face has changed and the clothes have long since been outgrown, that photograph will still be there.

Client Closet

My client closet features clothing for boys and girls in sizes 6 month - 6 year. There are a limited number of pieces for each gender/size so we will confirm your curation of sizes & styles prior to the session if multiple siblings are booked for one session together.
If you'd like to shop for your own outfits some of my favorite places to look are Etsy, Tiny Town Children's Boutique, Elegant Baby, Feltman Brothers, and Little English Clothing.
If you live local to West Michigan Gumballs Children Boutique has an excellent selection of vintage pieces for babies & toddlers. For older kids a simple white Peter Pan collar or white button down shirt works great,
frequently asked questions

What age is best for Signature Heirloom Portraits?
These sessions are designed for babies and children 6 months and older, or once they are sitting independently.
There isn't a single “perfect” age. Every stage of childhood has something worth preserving. If you are wanting to create a series of all your children and one isn't sitting yet we can still create a custom cohesive experience.
Do you provide clothing for the session?
Yes. I have a curated client closet for both boys and girls featuring vintage and heirloom-inspired pieces in whites, creams, soft pastels, lace, Peter Pan collars, high necklines, bows, bonnets, and other timeless details. However I can provide my favorite shops for you to consider purchasing outfits that can be handed down with the photos for future generations.
Do you use props?
Very minimally, if at all.
The Signature Heirloom experience is intentionally designed around simplicity. Most portraits are created against a clean white backdrop so that your child—not a prop or elaborate set—is the focus. If you have a special keepsake item you want to include in some we can do that. I do have a few heirloom like pieces like a silver rattle, wooden rattles and silver baby hair brush for busy hands.
Are these sessions just for babies?
No. While the sessions are especially beautiful for babies and milestones, they can be created for children throughout childhood.
Can I print artwork?
Yes. These portraits are specifically created with printed artwork in mind. Your images can be transformed into pieces to display in your home, gift to family, or preserve as keepsakes.
Silhouette prints and locket necklaces are also available as additional heirloom options. You'll be able to explore keepsake options in studio during your session.
How long does the session take?
Each session is booked for 30 minutes. Some younger children tend to have 15 minutes in them to cooperate for photos which is all it takes!
Do you have custom packages for multiple children?
Yes! These sessions are great for multiple siblings and I do have custom pricing for siblings.

ready to create something worth keeping?

I'd love to create a portrait of your child that feels worthy of becoming part of your family's story.
