Your Sweetest Chapter Is About to Begin
Your baby will never be this little again—and your newborn session should feel just as meaningful as the photographs themselves. As a Rockford, Michigan newborn photographer, I offer both studio and lifestyle newborn photography for families in Rockford, Grand Rapids, and throughout West Michigan. Located just 15 minutes north of Grand Rapids, my studio is thoughtfully designed to make your newborn photography experience comfortable and easy for the whole family, especially mom.
My approach to newborn photography is baby-led and natural, meaning I never force your baby into poses or rush through a session to create a particular image. I use minimal props, soft fabrics, beautiful textures, and simple styling to keep the focus where it belongs—on your baby and the connection between your family. Whether you choose a relaxed lifestyle session or a studio newborn session, the goal is to create timeless photographs that feel authentic to this fleeting season.

How it works
1. Connect & Schedule
Newborn sessions are typically photographed within the first 2–4 weeks after birth, with studio newborn sessions ideally taking place within the first two weeks when babies are often sleepier and naturally curl into those sweet newborn poses.
To get started, simply fill out my inquiry form so I can check availability and learn a little more about what you're looking for. Because I take on a limited number of newborn sessions each month, I reserve a timeframe in my calendar based on your due date rather than scheduling a specific session date before your baby arrives.
To reserve your session, a $250 non-refundable retainer is due upon signing your contract. This retainer secures your place on my calendar and includes your studio time.
2. Plan & Prepare
After booking you will be sent a guide that will walk you through the experience step by step and answer all your questions. Once your baby arrives, you'll send me a text and we’ll officially schedule your session date.
Newborn sessions are typically held in the morning, and we’ll coordinate a feeding in the studio shortly before your session begins. This allows your baby to arrive with a full tummy and hopefully settle into a cozy, sleepy rhythm for their portraits. My studio is fully stocked with everything your baby may need, including newborn and session essentials, so there’s no need to pack much. You’re always welcome to bring a special blanket, outfit, or meaningful keepsake you’d like to incorporate.
3. Shoot, EDIT & Deliver
After your session my work begins perfecting the beautiful images we captured at your session. Your gallery will be delivered via an online link within 30 days of your session. From there I will send a guide walking you through my print package options and keepsake products. You can choose the package/s that best fits how you want to preserve your photographs and I will take care of ordering & any customizations needed. Most of my keepsake products are handcrafted by a fine art studio in Italy and most of my print selections are printed here in the US by a print lab calibrated to my editing. Both offering high end, fine art caliber products that will stand the test of time.
When should I book a newborn Photographer?
I recommend booking your Rockford newborn photography session during pregnancy, often around the beginning of your second trimester. Because I accept a limited number of newborn sessions each month, reserving your timeframe early ensures availability around your due date. Newborn sessions are best within the first 2-4 weeks after birth.
When is the best time for newborn photos?
The best time for newborn photos is typically between 5–14 days after birth. During these first two weeks, babies are often sleepier, curlier, and more comfortable being gently posed, making this an ideal time for those sweet, timeless newborn images.
As a Rockford, MI newborn photographer, I recommend booking your newborn photography session during pregnancy and choosing a tentative date based on your due date. Once your baby arrives, we’ll finalize the perfect session date.
While the first two weeks are ideal for traditional newborn portraits, there is absolutely no need to worry if your baby is older. Newborn photography can be beautiful at any age, especially for relaxed, lifestyle-inspired sessions that focus on your baby and your connection as a family.
If you're looking for newborn photography in Rockford, Michigan, I’d love to create meaningful photographs of this fleeting season with you.
Do you offer in-home newborn photography?
Yes! I offer in-home newborn photography throughout Rockford, MI and surrounding West Michigan communities. In-home newborn sessions are more documentary-focused, capturing your family naturally in the place where you're beginning this new chapter together.
Rather than focusing solely on posed portraits, we'll document the little things that make this season yours—the nursery, tiny details, snuggles, feedings, and the everyday moments you'll want to remember long after your baby has outgrown this stage.
Want the best of both worlds? You can also add a studio-style setup in your home, giving you the beautiful, timeless look of traditional newborn portraits alongside authentic documentary images of your family in your own space.
Whether you're looking for lifestyle newborn photography in Rockford or a combination of posed and documentary images, your session can be customized to your family.
Studio Newborn Photography
A newborn studio EXPERIENCE where
YOU'RE cared for BEGINNING to end.
Think of it as a three-hour exhale. Your newborn session was designed with one person in mind who is often forgotten in the process: you. From the moment you walk in, there’s nothing you need to prepare, manage, or make perfect. My home studio is intentionally comfortable and welcoming for parents and children, with cozy chairs, coffee, water, snacks, entertainment, and space to simply be. While I photograph your baby, you can watch a show, catch up on your phone, read, rest, take a nap, or just enjoy the rare luxury of having nowhere else to be. My sessions are baby-led, If baby needs to eat, we pause. If baby needs to be held, we pause. There is no rushing through the session or worrying about whether your baby is “cooperating.” The goal isn't just beautiful photographs. It's an experience that feels easy, peaceful, and cared for from beginning to end.

My signature style for newborn photography is baby-led. I never force a baby into a pose or position they aren't comfortable with. Instead, I follow your baby's cues and use gentle posing. FAQ

HOW DOES BOOKING A DATE FOR A NEWBORN SESSION GO?
Your newborn session is reserved based on your estimated due date. Your due date serves as the anchor for your reserved timeframe, giving us flexibility since your baby may arrive earlier or later than expected. Upon booking I will reserve time around your due date. Your actual session date will be scheduled once your baby arrives. Newborn sessions are typically photographed within the first 2–4 weeks after birth, with studio sessions ideally taking place within the first two weeks.
Once your baby is born, simply reach out to let me know they’ve arrived. We’ll then choose a specific date & time based on your baby’s age, your recovery, and my studio availability. Reserving your timeframe in advance ensures I have space in my calendar during this important window. I encourage clients to keep me in the loop on how the end of pregnancy is going, if an earlier arrival may be expected let me know and I will make that accommodation in my calendar.
HOW LONG SHOULD WE EXPECT OUR NEWBORN SESSION TO TAKE?
Most newborn sessions take approximately 2–3 hours, but there’s no need to watch the clock. Sessions are completely baby-led, meaning we work portraits around your baby’s needs. If they need to eat, burp, be changed, or simply need a little extra soothing, we take our time and let them set the pace.
I encourage you to think of these few hours as potentially three hours to yourself. Bring your favorite lunch or treat, a book, or anything else that helps you relax. Enjoy the studio snacks and coffee, or settle in with the studio iPad and watch an episode of your favorite show. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, cared for, and completely unhurried while I take care of documenting your baby.
CAN SIBLINGS AND PARENTS BE INCLUDED IN NEWBORN STUDIO PHOTOS?
Yes! Parents and siblings are welcome to be included in your newborn session, and I love creating a few meaningful family portraits alongside your baby's individual images. To make sure everything flows smoothly, please let me know ahead of time who will be participating so I can prepare the studio and plan the session accordingly. My studio comfortably accommodates small family groupings.
Family portraits are photographed toward the end of your session and are included within your allotted three-hour session time. Because the focus of a newborn session is primarily on your new baby, I recommend keeping family portraits to your immediate family. This allows us to make the most of our time together and ensures there is plenty of time for your baby's individual portraits.
If you'd like to include grandparents, extended family, or a larger group, I would be happy to photograph that separately through a dedicated family session, where we can give those relationships the time and space they deserve. If you're only interested in family photos with baby in the studio we can do that too, please make note of that request when inquiring.
WHERE IS YOUR STUDIO LOCATED?
My newborn photography studio is located in my home studio in Rockford, Michigan, just north of Grand Rapids. The studio is conveniently located for families throughout Rockford, Grand Rapids, and surrounding West Michigan communities.
Because newborn sessions take place in a private home studio, I provide the exact address and arrival details once your session is booked. The studio is a comfortable, relaxed space designed specifically for newborn and family photography, with everything we need for your baby's session already on hand—including newborn and styling essentials.
Being in a controlled studio environment means we don't have to worry about Michigan weather, changing natural light, or other outdoor variables. Instead, I can carefully control the lighting and environment throughout your session while you settle in and let your baby take the lead.
For families looking for a Grand Rapids newborn photographer, my Rockford studio offers a convenient option just outside the city while providing a quiet, intimate setting for timeless newborn portraits. I also offer in-home newborn photography throughout the Grand Rapids and West Michigan area for families who prefer to document this season in their own home.
DO YOU OFFER NEWBORN PRINTS, FRAMED ART AND KEEPSAKE PHOTO ALBUMS?
Yes! Your photographs deserve to exist beyond a screen, and I offer a curated selection of high-quality prints and heirloom artwork designed to be enjoyed for years to come. Choose from beautiful fine-art prints, professionally framed photographs, and custom photo books designed to feel more like elevated coffee-table books than traditional photo albums. For something truly timeless, heirloom albums are also available—beautifully crafted pieces made to be held onto and passed down through generations.
My custom books and albums are printed & handcrafted in Italy, with an emphasis on beautiful materials, craftsmanship, and a finished product worthy of the photographs inside.
For families who prefer the convenience of ordering directly from their gallery, you’ll also have the option to purchase professional prints, framed artwork, phonebooks and more through a fine-art print lab based in the United States. This makes it easy to order additional prints and artwork whenever you’re ready, while ensuring your photographs are printed with professional quality and care. The lab linked to your gallery is calibrated to my editing.
